Abstract

Rhinoceros beetles are pests of coconut palms and are widespread in Papua New Guinea. One of the species of these beetles, Oryotes rhinoceros can be controlled by a disease which is caused by a virus called baculovirus of Oryotes. Viruses are extremely small organisms which can only be seen using a special microscope. They cause diseases in both plants and animals.
