Abstract

The Department of Primary Industry's Central Reference Insect Collection, known as the Kone Collection, is the largest collection of economic insects in Papua New Guinea. It con­tains about 100,000 specimens. Most of these have been col­lected since World War Two. There are about 20,000 species (kinds) of insects in the collection.
