Pests of cocoa - Pantorhytes

Abstract

Pantorhytes weevils are the serious insect pests of cocoa in Papua New Guinea. The larvae cause damage by boring into the tree trunk and main branches to feed on the wood. This damage can kill cocoa trees, or seriously reduce yields.
