Vegetable grower survey - 1993

Abstract

The results of a survey of vegetable growers conducted in February to May 1993 in selected districts are presented. The information obtained reveals significant differences between districts in crops grown, technology adopted by farmers, pest and disease problems encountered and marketing practices. Growers also reported on the perceived problems affecting their production. While finance, marketing and transport are major constraints, technical constraints recognized by farmers include pest and disease problems and lack of irrigation.
