Village and farm schools show great success in the promotion of extension technologies in the Markham valley, Papua New Guinea

Discussed is the process of empowering farmers directly through training. The leader farmers were also encouraged and assisted to train others. The method was resorted to as a result of inadequate agricultural extension in the Huon and Kaiapit program areas. The results obtained indicated that village level training has economic benefits to rural households.
