Some notes on the birds of Lihir

Abstract

Lihir is the largest of a group of islands to the north-east of New Ireland. The island was visited in July 1987 primarily to census the population of Common Scrubfowl (Megapodius freycinet) which breeds in the geothermically active Luise Caldera.
