Abstract

In the 1960s, Harry Bell located a resident population of Eurasian Coot Fulica atra on Lake Wangbin near Tabubil (Bell 1969). Shortly afterwards these birds completely disappeared, and he stated that shotguns were responsible.

A flock of at least 30 were seen from a low helicopter pass over a lake near Ubai Gubi (se of Goroka) in June 1985.
