Abstract

"From Stone to Steel" is the chronicle of an accident of history, but an accident which must have occurred among many other ethnic groups in many other areas of the Territory of Papua and New Guinea. It is a study of the intro- duction of modern technology, in the form of steel axes, to a group of stone age people.
