Abstract

A study was made on the distribution of manganese, iron, copper, zinc and boron in the leaves of coconut palms from different areas. There were large variations in leaf composition according to age of leaves and within the sampled leaflets. Results showed increased uptake of manganese, iron, zinc and boron following solid injections of trace elements into coconut stems. Trace element contents of coconut leaves in all parts of Papua and New Guinea are tabulated and compared with figures obtained elsewhere.
